About the course

Our three-day retreat in the wild flower meadows and forests of Homer, Alaska will explore the healing power of the plant kingdom. Workshop instructors Jan Schofield, author of Discovering Wild Plants and Anam Cara Program director Nancy Lee-Evans will support you in building knowledge of the exceptional nutritional and therapeutic value of the wild edibles and medicines at your doorstep.

In this workshop you will learn to identify local edible and medicinal plants, understand their herbal properties, and create tinctures, oils, and salves as herbal remedies using material from Jan's forthcoming book Health Plants. We will incorporate wild edibles in our lunches during the retreat.  We'll also explore plant communication is a learnable skill that brings the entire landscape alive and will change your relationship with nature forever.

Our retreat headquarters is a comfortable home with tent and camper parking space for those coming from out of town. A yurt is also available to share on a first come, first serve basis.  A supply list and directions will be provided upon registration. Be sure to give us your email address!
